Two study tours - 12th and 13th of March 2018

On the 12th and 13th of March 2018, researchers realized two study tours and collected photographic materials for further research. We visited three towns - Mtwapa, Watamu, and Malindi, located along the east coast of Kenya.

The subjects of our interest are visual messages, belonging to the following categories:

• Parks (city parks, public beaches) streets/roads (with names, without names), squares (town centre, open field); Coordinator: Rosita Deluigi, Team members: Giuseppe Capriotti, Maria Czerepaniak-Walczak
• Public spaces/facilities (for ex: post office, government buildings, community hospital, library, public school, church, mosque, and others); Coordinator: Adela Machova, Team members: Karolina Zawiślak, Ales Loziak, Alex Muthanga
• Public trasport (inter–city buses, matatu, tuk–tuk, motorbikes: serving the public - but privately owned); Coordinator: Agnieszka Szajner/ Roman Mazur, Team members: Grażyna Czubińska, Roman Mazur
• Bus/roads/other stops (designated places to pick up people, structures in contextual pictures); Coordinator: Małgorzata Szymankiewicz, Team members: Aleksandra Łukaszewicz Alcaraz, Monika Zawadzka, Francis Wokabi
• Railway/metro/other stations (airport, railway, ferry, bus, tuk-tuk, motorbikes); Coordinator: Audrey Mbogho, Team members: Elżbieta Perzycka, Lidia Marek, Anna Watoła

All the materials were gathered on the basis of Certificate of Ethical Approval issued by Ethics Review Committee (accredited by the National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation – NACOSTI, Kenya) (ERC/PU-STAFF/005/2017).
