TICASS researchers participated in the workshop held by PhD candidate Ales Loziak from Jan Evangelista Puryne University in Usti nad Labem on Visual Literacy.

The workshop contained two parts: theoretical and practical.

In the first part Loziak showed the importance of the context in the process of interpretation of the images. Differentiating between context (made with other, contextual images) and co-text (text added to the image) he argued for lack of fixed meaning of any image. In place he presented various artworks based on re-use and re-interpretation of the well-known forms.

In the second part researchers formed working groups, which created a small exposition of chosen photos. Each group had the same pictures to choose from, but made different choices and presented different narration.
