TICASS representatives visit to the Department of Fine Arts and Design in School of Creative and Performing Arts, Film and Media Studies at Kenyatta University
Dr. Monika Zawadzki and Dr. Aleksandra Lukaszewicz Alcaraz (Academy of Art in Szczecin) realized the workshop “Emotions and Ideas Described in Visual Language (Graphic Symbols)” with girls from the 2nd form (around 15 years old) at St. Thomas High School for Girls in Kilifi.
TICASS researchers have realized a series of working seminars in Lasswell’s Analysis Groups, a common workshop, and a lecture on Visual Culture Studies by Prof. Giuseppe Capriotti from University of Macerata, Italy.
12th and 13th of March 2018, researchers realized two study tours and collected photographic materials for further research. We visited three towns - Mtwapa, Watamu, and Malindi - located along the east coast of Kenya.
Mnarani Ruins in Kilifi District and Fort Jesus in Mombasa
The TICASS team participated in two study tours: one to Mnarani Ruins within Kilifi District, the other to Fort Jesus in Mombasa; in order to acquire knowledge on the historical background and cultural context of the region.
